Bargins

When Noel and I had dropped Poppy and Emma off for their Drama class, in the horrible on-going, never seeming to be stopping rain, we parked the car and went to Mr Ashcrofts a furniture store in Old Town, where we had previously bought all our oak furniture from. They had a 72-hour, half price sale on. At the time of buying our bedroom furniture, we felt that we didn’t need the matching double bed, our bed was only 2 years old at the time and we didn’t have a need for 2 double beds in the house – however time has moved on and at half price we thought we would have a look. Now remember I can’t walk fast at all, the wind was to high for an umbrella so it was not the most pleasant, of what should have been just a 5 minute walk. The shop was empty – weird with such a good sale on … but we were so disappointed, they have stopped doing our range. Oh well, even at half price we have just saved ourselves some money, says she trying to look at the positive side.

Anyway on the waddle back, we passed the Marie Curie charity shop and what did they have in the window… this

We still paid £80.00, it had been priced at £100.00, but believe me we checked it over and it really has hardly been used, in fact the lady in the shop said, that the lady who had owned it, told her; “she had only used it 2 or 3 times but had just not got on with it”, well even if you times that by 10 or 20, it is still a bargain. I have so wanted one of these for many a year but could not justify the cost of a new one. It will be fantastic when doing the flat seams during sewing of costumes and pressing the ¼” seams in the piecing of blocks for quilts. The shop also had a trouser press, which we bought for £7.00,

I do need to give it a bit of a clean and Noel used some epoxy resin to glue a crack in one of the feet but again a bargain.

Shame I don’t do normal ironing - LOL
