Birthday Girl

Poppy is 15 … she says, “that she now feels much more grown up, when she can say she is 15, as 14 sounds still quite young, a child’s age.”

She is growing up; her face is much more an adult shape, longer and thinner, as is her figure, which is beautifully slim, due to all the dancing.

Dad and I are very proud of her …

Poppy had school as normal and came home with a big bag of presents from all her friends, she was buzzing. However it was straight off to her singing lesson. While she was there, I shuffled round Asda and bought her a few bits and pieces – like you do – but the main reason for the trip was to buy some helium balloons. I bought four (however one has to go back as it had collapsed by the time I had got home.) One balloon had her name on, another with her age but all saying ‘Happy Birthday’, to decorate the dining room.

The original plan was after her dancing lesson, we were going to pick up her friends; Emma and Kaan (Lucy couldn’t make it) and we were going to a local Italian restaurant. However due to my poorly back, there was no way I was going to be able to sit for a couple of hours in an uncomfortable chair – I felt very guilty. Mum = Guilt, why does this feeling pop out the same time your give birth? Poppy was a star, we just changed it all round to a take-away and sleepover.

So from singing to dancing, and then the birthday celebrations started, we picked up Emma, Noel got home from work, and Kaan was dropped off. Far to many pizzas were ordered, presents were opened and dance mats were set up. Guess who had to sit this one out?

The pizza and coke arrived and were (not quite all) eaten and then Daddy brought out the birthday cake to a chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’.

They settled down and watched a DVD before all going to bed far to early for teenagers on a sleep over!! They were all shattered.

They did all have to get up reasonably early in the morning as Poppy and Emma had a drama lesson to get to. Cold pizza was eaten for breakfast – em, lovely.

So that is our little girl who is growing up very fast into a lovely young lady – DON’T TALK TO SOON – she’s 15 – shall we watch this space to see what she does over the next year … LOL
